May 8, 1933-from Ruth to James

Dear Daddy:

I am sorry I did not write before. It is cold out this morning and we have an inch of snow it is stopped snowing now tho, and I think the sun is going to shine. I planted my radishes and there a quarter of an inch high. Mitzi is about 5 inches longer than she was last. Yesterday I bult me a house of logs and I am going to put up a telegraph station to the house so I can write notes to mother and tell her how I am getting on. we’ll sure have lots of fun. Ever since last Monday mother has been teaching John and me lessons in arithemetic and spelling and it sure is fun I know my table of 6es by heart and can say them like a flash well this is all the news so will close with lots of love from Ruth

PS John and I made diffront colors of water out of the scraps of the crepe paper you sent. mine are purple, red, orange, green, yellow, and blue.
