Dear Daddy,

How are you I am fine. We heard some wolves howling. I was getting wood when I heard them I sure was scared and I came running in. they kept on howling a long time but after a while they got so far away we couldn’t hear them any more. Ruth and me had a party with Ruth’s baloon it was the baloon she got yesterday at the store, and Betty June and Dimples. Mother let us have some bread.

Well I have to go to bed. John

Dear Daddy,

We’re having some real cold wether. this evening when the wolves howled the cat got frightened and she listened to it 3 or 4 times and then ran as fast as she could to the bed and crawled under it and stayed until Mother and I began to play rummy. This morning it is pretty cold out. While I was getting dressed the cat went in our doll house. Please send me another ever-sharp pencil soon for the lead does not stay in my red one and the blue one has no eraser. Mother stayed up and kept the fire last night and heard the wolves howl when we were asleep. While John was getting wood he got frightened when he heard the wolves. He said they sounded near the corn field to the west of the house.

This is all so by-by. Love from Ruth.
